History[]
Real-world history[]
World War I's sparking event was the death of Austro-Hungarian heir Archduke Franz Ferdinand on the 28th of June in 1914. Ferdinand had been assassinated by Bosnian Serb Yugoslav nationalist Gavrilo Princip of the military secret society The Black Hand due to the archduke's desire to end the Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The result of this was the, "July Crisis", a time of political, social and diplomatic instability which escalated conflict between nations.
As a result of the July Crisis, two parties were formed: the Triple Entendre or Allied Powers of France, Russia and Britain against the Triple Alliance of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. Alliances and escalating conflict resulted in these two sides absorbing more nations into their war. Amidst the war, Germany would rise to the foremost of the Triple Alliance under leadership from its kaiser, Wilhelm II.
In 1918, the allied powers began the Hundred Days Offensive which gave them advantage over Germany. In 1918/1919, the people of Germany rebelled against the kaiser due to his classism, aristocracy and lack of direct involvement in the war. This rebellion caused Wilhelm to abdicate from the throne and flee with his family to the Netherlands. Due to the central powers' collapse, the Armistice of 11 November 1918 was signed between the allies and Germany, arranging the end of the war.
