Winston Murray Hunt Hibler (1910-1976) was a real-world screenwriter and director for Disney. He co-writ and narrated several of the True-Life Adventures films with one Ted Sears. These films served as the initial source of inspiration for Adventureland and the Jungle Cruise.

Jungle Cruise tributes[]

  • In Disneyland's Jungle Cruise, Nigel Greenwater mentions one Doctor Hibler as being a member of the True-Life Adventurers Club. He states that Hibler and Doctor Sears are to discuss their findings on, "The African Lion", referencing the True-Life Adventures film, "The African Lion".
  • In the Amazon River Base of Walt Disney World's Jungle Cruise is a barrel addressed to, "Dr. Winston Hibler". This crate identifies Hibler as a member of the Special Arachnids Unit of the Jungle Exploration Company.[1]
  • Framed in the Amazon River Base is the Jungle Navigation Company's, "First Joke" from Skipper Winston.[2]
  • On the crew shift exchange chalkboard of the Amazon River Base is a duty manager named Commodore Hibler.
