Virtual Jungle Cruise was a CGI generated video-game attraction in DisneyQuest, inspired by the Jungle Cruise with a plot tying into the comedy film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989).
History[]
Backstory[]
The Virtual Jungle Cruise had guests transported back to a jungle in the age of dinosaurs on a river tour by inventor Wayne Szalinski. However, Wayne would transport them to the day the dinosaurs went extinct and to lose his time-machine gizmo along the river. Guests proceed, needing to travel along the rivers to retrieve the equipment before returning to modern day where at least one raptor appeared to have escaped to.
Development history[]
The attraction was developed by Angel Studios.
Summary[]
Guests would be seated on a raft in-front of a screen, atop a motion simulating platform. Guests would paddle through jungles, caves, and eventually an active volcanic region all while surrounded by dinosaurs before being found and retrieved to modern-day by their skipper, Wayne. Using the paddles, guests could choose the route which the raft took based off of signs along the river. On their journey, guests encountered various prehistoric creatures including tyrannosaurus-rex, parasaurolophus, ankylosaurus, pterosaurs, sauropods, styracosaurs and velociraptors.
Trivia[]
