Up is a 2009 animated film by Disney-Pixar.
Summary[]
Jungle Cruise connections[]
Kilimanjaro Safaris[]
Disney's Animal Kingdom features the, "Wilderness Explorers" interactive game which puts guests in the roles of Wilderness Explorers in Harambe, Anandapur, Discovery Island, Diggs County and the Valley of Mo'ara on the moon of Pandora. Several of the badge missions revolve around Kilimanjaro Safaris and its setting of Harambe.
Na'vi River Journey[]
The attraction Na'vi River Journey which is part of the Wilderness Explorers attraction was inspired by the Jungle Cruise.
Skipper Canteen[]
In the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen is Dr. Albert Falls', "Hightower Spirit of Adventure Award" from the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. This references Harrison Hightower III from Tower of Terror and the Society of Explorers and Adventurers from Fortress Explorations, both of which are amoral colonial explorers. The name, "Spirit of Adventure" might be a reference to Up's villain Charles Muntz, himself an amoral colonial explorer whose headquarters was a blimp called The Spirit of Adventure.
Incidentally, the canteen's library has the books Everest Expedition: The Search for the Yeti by Harrison Hightower III and The Harambe Chronicles by Wilson. These reference Expedition Everest, the Yeti of the Forbidden Mountain, Disney's Animal Kingdom's Africa, and Kilimanjaro Safaris, all of which are parts of the Wilderness Explorers attraction.
Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar[]
On a shelf in Trader Sam's bar is Carl and Ellie Fredricken's coin jar for, "Paradise Falls". In the D23 video for the bar, Nigel Greenwater mentioned Skipper John following the phrase, "Adventure is out there!". This is quoting Up's villain Charles Muntz and affiliating it with John Lasseter, a figure affiliated with Pixar. Incidentally, the bar also references Harambe.
Other connections[]
Adventureland[]
In Disneyland Paris, Carl and Russel can be seen along the jungle rivers of Adventureland.[1]
Discovery Island[]
The Wilderness Explorers attraction involves Discovery Island, It's Tough to Be a Bug! and the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life is a Disneyoendron tree, a fictional genus of tree frequently used in Adventureland. A Bug's Life which Discovery Island is largely themed to was also referenced as being connected to Skipper John in the aforementioned D23 video of Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar.
Expedition Everest[]
The Wilderness Explorers are tied into this attraction and the history of Anandapur.
The Lion King[]
Some of the Wilderness Explorers missions pertain to Festival of the Lion King and Rafiki's Planet Watch.
