The Treasure of the Pacific is an object from A Pirate's Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas. While themed towards Pirates of the Caribbean, the idol is located at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom's Jungle Cruise and ties into its backstory.

Description[]

The Treasure of the Pacific is a golden skull with bejewelled eyes. It was one of seven mystical artifacts endowed with power by the sea goddess Calypso. The treasure was kept within a stone idol protected by a statue spirit represented by faces on the stone. The idol was also of an asian design and featured carvings of various Indian elephants. The idol was presumably located in a region of North Africa adjacent to the Nile river, meaning either in Egypt or Sudan.

History[]

The Treasure of the Pacific was created by the goddess Calypso. At some point, it came into the possession of the Umbala tribe of North Africa. The treasure paralleled mysterious rituals that the Umbala practiced in regards to, "Headhunting" and a cultural significant placed onto skulls.[1]

In the golden age of piracy of the early 18th century, many pirates and sailors sought after the treasure. These seafarers would be killed by the Umbala and have their skulls cursed to be undead and mounted in their territory as a warning. Following the summer of 1729, the treasure was sought after by Captain Jack Sparrow and his rival Captain Hector Barbossa. Ultimately, the treasure was claimed by Sparrow's crew with some assistance from Calypso.

Jungle Cruise[]

The headhunters who protected the treasure are characters from the Jungle Cruise. In the anachronistic geography of Adventureland, the ruins of the treasure are located directly next to the sign pointing towards the Jungle Cruise at a Jungle Navigation Company base. The design also resembles the Khmer ruins seen in the Jungle Cruise.
