Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom was an attraction in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom that ran from 2012 to 2021.
History[]
Backstory[]
In this attraction, the Hellenic god of death and the underworld Hades wishes to take over the Magic Kingdom. Hades' plot is to steal the Crystal of the Magic Kingdom from the wizard Merlin in the fire-house of Main Street, U.S.A.. The crystal was shattered during the theft by Hades' side-kicks Pain and Panic resulting in pieces being scattered throughout the realms. Because of this, both Hades and Merlin began recruiting outside help.
Guests assume the roles of apprentices for Merlin who must travel the realms to recover the crystals. Along the way, guests had to fight villains recruited by Hades under a number of monikers to assist him in his takeover. In Main Street, U.S.A. they fought Cruella DeVil, in Fantasyland they'd fight Maleficent and Ursula, in Liberty Square and Adventureland they would fight Governor Ratcliffe and Doctor Facilier, and in Adventureland they would fight Scar, Yzma and Jafar.
All of this would lead up to a final confrontation with Hades who would summon the god of darkness, Chernabog from Bald Mountain. After defeating Chernabog, Hades would be imprisoned within the completed Crystal of the Magic Kingdom which would be returned to Merlin.

At the beginning and end of the Scar mission, Rafiki and Merlin were shown riding on a Jungle Cruise boat while wearing a skipper outfit. Said boat had the classic red and white striped Jungle Cruise boat canopy.

Pirates of the Caribbean[]
The Jafar Adventureland missions involved Merlin riding on a boat through Isla Tesoro from Pirates of the Caribbean. A medal from the game can also be found in a cabinet at the pirate's bazaar of Isla Tesoro.
Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room[]
At the end of the Yzma mission, Merlin and Kuzco attended a show in the Enchanted Tiki Room. Iago who was an antagonist in Adventureland missions is also a character affiliated with the Tiki Room's overlay The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management. Michael also appeared in the background alongside living tikis.
Trivia[]
- Rafiki who was featured in the Jungle Cruise missions is also affiliated with the Kilimanjaro Safaris mythos.
- Maleficent who was featured as a boss in the Fantasyland missions makes a cameo in the Skipper Canteen on a map. The Lion King and Iago are both referenced in the Skipper Canteen's library.
