Slappy is a prop from the Adventurers Club attraction of the defunct Pleasure Island area of Downtown Disney.

Description[]

Slappy was a ventriloquist's dummy with strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, and a pinstripe suit. The doll was sometimes treated as if it was sentient and possibly actually was. The doll's keepers described it as enjoying peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches.

History[]

Background[]

Slappy was a ventriloquist's dummy in the posession of English military-officer and globetrotter Colonel Critchlow Sunchbench. Sunchbench was the gleemaster of the, "Adventurers Club", a fun-loving guild of adventurers who assembled in Pleasure Island, Florida. Slappy was present in the club's headquarters on the December 31 of 1938 when the club held an open-house. At some point following this, the colonel went on an expedition with the club and left Slappy in the care of his contact, "Trader Sam" in the Enchanted Tiki Bar of Polynesia.

Jungle Cruise appearances[]

Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar[]

Slappy appears in a crate within the bar. A letter from Pamelia Perkins mentions Slappy having been left in Sam's car by the colonel while the Adventurers Club was on expedition.[1] During the holidays, a stocking for Slappy is sometimes hung up in the Enchanted Tiki Bar.[2]
