"Skipper" Missy Awol is a character from the Jungle Cruise.

History[]

Background[]

Missy Awol was an English and/or Indian woman during the 1930s who alongside her American brother, Albert Awol, worked for the colonial Jungle Navigation Company.

By 1937, Albert went on an expedition and left Missy to work his radio broadcast, while asking her not to let broadcaster Nigel Greenwater near the microphone. By 1938, Skipper Missy worked as a radio-announcer for the Global Broadcasting Service, mirroring an announcer job which Albert had for the JNC through AWOL Airwaves.

Development history[]

Skipper Missy was a character introduced in the 2021 refurbishment of the Jungle Cruise, replacing announcer Albert Awol in the Magic Kingdom and Nigel Greenwater in Disneyland. Missy's character has connections to both of them, given how she is sisters with Albert and works for Greenwater's business the Global Broadcasting Service.

Appearances[]

Missy is the broadcaster of the Global Broadcasting Service in the queue.

Skipper Society[]

Pinned to the wall is a Jungle Telegram sent from Albert Awol to Missy. The telegram identifies Albert as being on an expedition taking longer than expected, asking Missy to continue her broadcast, and telling her not to let Nigel near the microphone.[1] It is possible that this is a reused prop from the Jungle Cruise's queue.
