Skipper Bill is a character from the Jungle Cruise.

History[]

Biography[]

Skipper Bill was an employee of the Jungle Navigation Company during the 1930s. Bill worked as a skipper, namely aboard the boat the Congo Connie. At some point became head of plant studies and by 1938, he had an office in the company headquarters.

Skipper Bill is a tribute to imagineer and botanist Bill Evans.

In his loop, Albert Awol says, "And now, here's today's River Tip from Skipper Bill on the Congo Connie.  Bill says, "If it rains in the jungle, who cares?  That's why they call it a rainforest!"  Thanks, Bill".

Skipper Canteen[]

Bill's office is visible from the mess hall.

Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar[]

Trader Sam has a postcard from a Bill who is stranded on a boat in the Congo where he lost his anchor.[1] This anchor appears mounted on Sam's wall.

Trivia[]

  • Bill Evans is also referenced in the Skipper Canteen with a book titled "Universus Arboribus" by B.M. Evans. Outside of the Magic Kingdom's Jungle Cruise are crates labelled, "Evans Exotic Plant Exporters Ltd." for a similar tribute.
  • It is unknown if Bill was connected to the 1933 incident of the Congo Connie going over Schweitzer Falls or not.
