Settler's Field is a location in the Jungle Cruise.
Description[]
Settler's Field is a field along the Amazon river in the Amazon rainforest. The field was notably used by pilots as a place for landing. However, the field was prone to floods resulting in bogs and a dense population of water-buffalo. The field was allocated nearby piranha territory, Trader Sam's outpost and gift-shop. The portion of the river which the field was located on was also part of the Rivers of Adventure, causing the field to be affected by rivers across the globe.
History[]
Background[]
Settler's Field was a region of the Amazon rainforest which was likely subject to colonization as implicated by its name. Around the August of 1891, the region was visited by colonial British explorer Dr. Albert Falls on his mission to map the Rivers of Adventure. Falls documented the petroglyphs made of the fish and also partook in fishing for the piranhas near the end of their seasonal rapids.
This region would go on to be regularly passed through by Falls' business the Jungle Navigation Company which he founded in 1911. The field was most notably used by pilots who would land in the field. In 1936, flooding on the Rivers of Adventure caused by rains on Schweitzer Falls resulted in the field being flooded.
Appearances[]
Jungle Cruise[]
The field is passed by in Disneyland's Jungle Cruise. In the boathouse, Nigel Greenwater can be heard advising pilots not to land in the field due to flooding from rains on Schweitzer Falls.
Trivia[]
- Rock python are not native to the Amazon rainforest. Water-buffalo are not indigenous to the region but were introduced in the 19th century.
- It is unknown if the field has any connection to the Amazon floodplain which holds the Amazon River Base.
