Samuel "Sam" McKim (1924-2004) was a real-life actor and artist who worked for the Walt Disney Company. McKim made artwork for the Disney theme-parks including concept-art for the Jungle Cruise. Sam's best known contribution is concept-artwork for the character who became Trader Sam; said character being an infamously racist element of the Jungle Cruise.

Jungle Cruise tributes[]

  • It is sometimes asserted (but not fully confirmed) that Trader Sam is named after his designer, Samuel McKim.
  • McKim's concept art for Trader Sam was hung up in Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar where it was identified as Sam's alleged grandfather, "Trader Bill".
