This article is on the chieftain of the Puka Michuna tribe in 1556. For the chieftain of 1916, see Trader Sam (chieftain).

The chief is the conjectural name for a character from the Jungle Cruise film.

History[]

Biography[]

This man was chief of the Puka Michuna tribe in the Amazon rainforest during the 16th century. He was a magic-user who kept the Tears of the Moon, a magical tree which bloomed a flower that could heal anything on a Blood Moon. The secrets to the tree were kept on the Arrowhead of Lukarina which the chieftain wore as a pendant. The chieftain also had a daughter.

In 1556, the chief and his people rescued a group of conquistadors on the verge of death who were on an expedition to find the Tears of the Moon. After being healed, the leader Lope de Aguirre demanded the chieftain give them access to the tree so that he could heal his ill daughter, Anna. However, the chief refused due to deeming Lope unworthy of the tree's magic. Because of this, Lope attempted to take the arrowhead by force and killed the chief, only for the chief to curse him and his men to be immortal and bound to the Amazon with his final breath.

Appearances[]

Jungle Cruise[]

The chief appears in the backflash sequence in the beginning of the movie which is repeated (with many of the exact same shots and same information in narration) around the third act of the film. Frank and the conquistadors are all suffering from the curse in the film.
