Nigel Greenwater is a character from Disneyland's Jungle Cruise.
History[]
Biography[]
Nigel Greenwater was an Englishman and employee of the Jungle Navigation Company since the 1920s. In 1928, he founded the Global Broadcasting Service which used radios to project messages across the world. This company would be broadcast by the Greenwater Production Company, a group which Greenwater presumably lead.
Greenwater continued this business into the 1930s. In 1936, he was deemed the "Announcer of the Year". By 1937, he ran the trivia competition Nigel Greenwater's Trivial Trivia League. During fellow radio announcer Albert Awol's extended expedition in 1937 (likely going into 1938), Albert had his sister Missy cover for him and ask her not to let Nigel near the microphone. By 1938, Nigel wrote a book which was titled Survival in the Entertainment Jungle.
Development history[]
Nigel Greenwater was added to the Jungle Cruise's queue as a radio announcer during the refurbishment which added Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye to Disneyland. In the 2020s refurbishment of the Jungle Cruise, Greenwater was removed from Disneyland and replaced with the character "Skipper Missy".

Advertisements for the Global Broadcasting Service were in the Daily Gnus newspaper. The advertisements read as, "The Global Broadcasting Service, Broadcasting Globally around the Globe since 1928, Greenwater Production Co.".

Skipper Canteen[]
In a display-case within the canteen is a 1936 trophy for "Announcer of the Year" made out to Greenwater. He can be heard as a customer of the canteen in the Mess Hall's audio-loop, along with Shrunken Ned and the Dreamfinder. Greenwater has a book in the canteen's library which is titled "Survival in the Entertainment Jungle".

Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye[]
Greenwater's audio-loop has two broadcasts regarding the Lost Delta Archaeological Expedition and Temple of the Forbidden Eye. He talks about Marcus Brody speaking to the Royal Anthropological Society about Indiana Jones' excavations on the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Brody also mentions dangerous paranormal incidents occurring around the Temple of the Forbidden Eye resulting in the Governor General sending dispatch to the region.
Jungle Cruise (film)[]
The Royal Anthropological Society which Greenwater mentions has a name similar to the Royal Anthropological and Diverse Adventures Society from the Jungle Cruise film.

- Greenwater makes several references in the his audio-loop.
- He mentions a, "True-Life Adventures Club" with one Ted Sears being a member. This references the True-Life Adventures nature films made by Disney which inspired Adventureland and the Jungle Cruise. Ted Sears worked on these films.
- Greenwater talks about Marcus Brody speaking to the Royal Anthropological Society about Indiana Jones' excavations on the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Brody also mentions dangerous paranormal incidents occurring around the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.
- Greenwater speaks about a shipment of mosquito repellant being used at Tropical Imports. He further references the shop as being known as, "Trader Sam's".
