The Molopo Marie is a fictional boat from the Skipper Canteen.

Description[]

The Molopo Marie was a steamboat used for river-travel in the early half of the 20th century.

History[]

The Molopo Marie was a steamship which belonged to the wealthy, colonial Falls family. The boat was seemingly named for Victoria Marie Falls, the wife of Dr. Albert Falls. In 1927, a 16-year-old Alberta Falls took the boat up the Ganges river to visit her maternal grandparents in India.

Appearances[]

Jungle Cruise[]

Leading up to the 2021 refurbishment, Alberta Falls spoke about her 1927 piloting of the Molopo Marie to the Daily Gnus newspaper. A life ring from the Molopo Marie and the expedition can be found at the Amazon River Base in the Magic Kingdom version of the attraction.[2]

Skipper Canteen[]

There is a miniature model of the Molopo Marie in the Falls family parlour.

Trivia[]

  • The Marie's name might be a tribute to Lillian Marie Disney, the real-world wife and widow of Walt Disney.
  • The miniature of the Molopo Marie in the Skipper Canteen is sometimes interpreted as a tribute to the defunct attraction Shrunken Ned's Junior Jungle Boats.
