Mickey Mouse is a character who first appeared in the 1928 cartoon Plane Crazy. He is the mascot of the Walt Disney Company.

Biography[]

Mickey Mouse is a cartoon mouse created in Burbank, California on the 18th of November in 1928 by Walt Disney. Along with his cartoon animal friends, Mickey starred as an actor in a number of animations over the years, gaining fame and recognition throughout the 1930s in prints like LIFE magazine. Mickey would become a prominent figure in the Walt Disney Company, effectively serving as their mascot.

One starring-role of Mickey's was in a film called The Jungle Cruise made by H. Goff and Walt Disney Pictures in affiliation with the colonial Jungle Navigation Company. This film was shot in Zanzibar and Calcutta with fellow actors Minnie Mouse, "Trader Sam", and and JNC, "Skippers", Skipper Brennan and Skipper Lasseter. This film premiered in Hollywood's Theatre of the Stars on the Sunday, July 17th of an unknown year.

Throughout the 20th century, Mickey, his friends, and his girlfriend Minnie Mouse would travel the world as explorers. In their journeys, Mickey and Minnie would both become affiliated with the colonial secret-society The Society of Explorers and Adventurers though the extent of their affiliation is unknown. Locations which Mickey and Minnie visited include Hong Kong, the S.E.A. colony of Mystic Point, and Adventureland, a domain made up of exotic regions from across the Earth.

  • There is a mural of Mickey Mouse in the Harambe Marketplace with the words, "Fichwa! Fellow". Fichwa means, "Hidden" in Swahili, referencing Hidden Mickeys.[2]

  • Mickey appears on the, "Official Guest Skipper" cards.[4]
  • Removed pygmy war-canoes from the pygmy camp scene of the Magic Kingdom's Jungle Cruise depicted tribal versions of Mickey, Donald and Goofy's heads.
  • There is a pan with a hidden Mickey on the Suwannee Lady.[5]
  • The downed plane has a hidden Mickey on it.
  • The Goliath Spiders have hidden mickeys on their back.
  • A removed cabinet from the boathouse of the Magic Kingdom's Jungle Cruise contained a tribal mask modelled after Mickey's face.[6]
  • During the Jungle Cruise's 50th anniversary in Disneyland, the Donald Duck tribal mask was replaced with a wooden silhouette of Mickey's head with the number 50 inside it.

  • In Alberta Falls' office is a wooden train for, "ej" where the j is dotted with a hidden Mickey.[7]

A book with Mickey and Goofy on the cover is in the boathouse for this version of the attraction.[8]

Magic of Disney Animation[]

In the Magic of Disney Animation, Mickey appears on a poster for a film titled, "The Jungle Cruise" in a parody of The African Queen where he replaces Charlie Allnut.[9]

Skipper Canteen[]

In the Skipper Canteen's library is a book titled, "The 1871 Annual Revue of Song" by M.M.R.. This references the defunct attraction, the Mickey Mouse Revue.

Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar[]

The lanterns on the bar patio have hidden mickeys on them.

Trader Sam's Grog Grotto[]

In the rafters, Trader Sam has a surfboard with a design of Mickey Mouse on it, though his face is hidden.[10]

This had episode transporting his friends aboard a Jungle River Boat in the jungle before getting replaced by a monkey.

Cargo transported in this game includes Mickey Mouse ears. He is also referenced by a fishing-lure where each lure is modelled after a Disney cartoon character.

Mickey's passport can be seen with badges from Adventureland, Mystic Point, Hong Kong and the Society of Explorers and Adventurers.

Great Movie Ride[]

Mickey Mouse appeared as the Sorcerers Apprentice following the Wizard of Oz scenes. Mickey also had a cameo in the Well of Souls, being dressed as an Egyptian pharaoh on hieroglyphics alongside Donald.[11]

Trivia[]

  • The LIFE magazine in the Temple of the Forbidden Eye was anachronistic due to the magazine being from the September of 1938 while the attraction takes place in the summer of 1936.
