Dr. Marcus Brody is a character from the film Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989).
History[]
Biography[]
Marcus Brody is an old friend of archaeologist Dr. Henry Jones, Sr.. Brody himself studied history and archaeology, leading to him becoming a museum curator and dean of Marshall College. Marcus was also close friends with Henry's son, Indiana Jones who was a gifted archaeologist and adventurer in his own right.
In 1935, Brody was affiliated with Indiana's Lost Delta Archaeological Expedition to excavate the Temple of the Forbidden Eye in the Lost Delta of India. When Jones discovered the temple, Brody relayed the news to Professor Kauffman of the Universitatis Sigillium. Around 1936, Brody spoke on the Temple of the Forbidden Eye to the Royal Anthropological Society, stating it was perhaps the greatest anthropological discovery of the century. In July, Brody was notified that Indiana went missing in the temple and encouraged the expedition to continue running tours in hopes of finding him.
After Jones reappeared, Brody assisted him in many of his adventures such as that for the Ark of the Covenant later in 1936 and Holy Grail in 1938. Brody was also allied with Jones' friend and frequent collaborator, "Trader Sam" who Brody once contacted through the Jungle Navigation Company to ask if he had information on Indiana Jones' disappearance (possibly referencing the events in the Temple of the Forbidden Eye). Marcus Brody died in the year 1952.

Brody is also mentioned in a message to Indiana Jones from Professor Kauffman who communicated with Brody over the discovery of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. A crate labelled, "M.
