The Map of the Amazon rainforest is the conjectural name for an item from the Jungle Cruise film.
Description[]
This is an old paper map of a portion of the Amazon rainforest and its many tributaries which was created in the 16th century, and which was composed of segmented pieces of parchment. The map was created with the intention of locating the Amazon's legendary Tears of the Moon tree.
History[]
Background[]
Origins[]
The map was created by cartographer/conquistador Francisco Lopez de Heredia in 1556 on an expedition to locate the Tears of the Moon tree in the Amazon under Lope de Aguirre. Through unknown means, by the 19th century this map came under the possession of British aristocrat Charles Houghton who frequently showed it to his daughter Lily when she was a child, telling her legends of the Tears of the Moon.
Tears of the Moon[]
In 1911, Lily used the map and the stolen Arrowhead of Lukarina to track down the Tears of the Moon tree. In Brazil, she enlisted the riverboat services of Jungle Navigation Company sailor, Frank Wolff, who in actuality was Francisco Lopez de Heredia while cursed with immortality.
Later history[]
By the 1930s, the map came under ownership of the Jungle Navigation Company. Jungle Navigation Company president Alberta Falls was known to keep it in her office at the company's Amazon River Base, though it was also known to be framed on display at the company's original headquarters in the Lost Delta of India.
