Luana Teixeira is a character from the Skipper Canteen.

History[]

In the 19th century, Luana Teixeira was a member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers; a European guild of colonial explorers and thieves. Luana was a photographer who in the 1800s used a daguerreotype camera and took photographs across the world in locations such as Bakersfield, Brazil, Canada, the Congo, Egypt, Florida, Mekong, Mexico, Morocco, the Nile, Norway, Persia, Peru, Scotland and the Tropics.

On the June 5 of 1888, she photographed fellow S.E.A. member Dr. Albert Falls upon his, "Discovery" of flooded ruins along the Mekong river of Cambodia. By the 1890s, Luana was considered to be a senior member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. On the August 12 of 1891, she signed the certificate of discovery for Doctor Falls' most famous, "Discovery" in the form of Schweitzer Falls.

By the 20th century, Luana would be amongst the members who frequently met within Doctor Albert Falls' jungle mansion near the mystical Rivers of Adventure. Prior to 1938 she made books titled, Photos of Morocco, Photos of Mexico, Photos of Canada, Photos of Norway, Photos of Florida, Photos of Congo, Photos of the Tropics, Photos of Scotland, Photos of Persia, Photos of Egypt, Photos of Brazil, Photos of the Nile, Photos of Peru, Photos of Mekong and Photos of Bakersfield.[1]

There are multiple references to Luana throughout the Skipper Canteen. There are various photography books by her in the library and her signature is on the certificate of discovery for Schweitzer Falls. Luana's fez is located in the entrance to the S.E.A. meeting-hall and she is pictured in a portrait of the, "Shir Lee Temple".

Trivia[]

  • Luana is shown wearing a pith helmet, an item pseudonymous with European colonialism and subjugation of, "Exotic" locales.
