Living with the Land is an attraction in the Land Pavilion of EPCOT's World Nature (formerly Future World). It has a jungle riverboat scene that repurposes animatronic animals from the Jungle Cruise.

History[]

Backstory[]

The attraction is set within the futuristic Floridian settlement of EPCOT, the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Here, guests are taken on a tour of The Land, a high-tech pavilion used to study agriculture while also serving as a base for the airline company Soarin'. Living with the Land takes guests on a tour of the Land Pavilion while educating them on the importance of innovative agriculture and environmentalism.

Jungle Cruise connections[]

Jungle Cruise[]

Some of the animatronic animals in the rainforest scene are identical to those used in the Jungle Cruise. Most identifiably, the monkeys are the same used in the Shir Lee Temple scene of the Jungle Cruise. The crocodiles are also practically identical to those used in Shir Lee Temple and Crocodile Country.

Skipper Canteen[]

The attraction may be referenced in the library by a book titled, "Living with the Lambs" by Hogley.

Trivia[]

  • The character that became the Dreamfinder was once proposed to appear in the attraction as, "The Landkeeper". The Dreamfinder incidentally makes an audio cameo in the Skipper Canteen.
  • Mike Brassell who narrates the attraction is also the voice of ORAC One, the robot narrator of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover in the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland.
  • The fictionalized setting of EPCOT which the ride is set in has assorted connections to the Jungle Cruise:
    • Trader Sam has a life-preserver from the Norway Pavilion in his Grog Grotto. Sam was also friends with the fictionalized Disney Parks version of Walt Disney who is affiliated with EPCOT's in-universe history.
    • There is a book by Peter "Star-Lord" Quill in the Skipper Canteen's library titled, "The Stars Above Us", referencing the Galaxarium of Epcot's Xandarian Outpost. There is also a book by Tomorrowland character Tom Morrow whose robotic successor Tom Morrow 2.0 is a character from EPCOT's Innoventions.
  • The buffalo animatronic was repurposed from the scrapped Frontierland attraction The Western River Expedition, designed by Marc Davis.
