History[]
Background[]
The La Quila was a ramshackle boat built by Frank Wolff, an ancient cursed conquistador who was bound to the Amazon rainforest. Wolff named the vessel after the Incan mood goddess, "Quila". Frank was often accompanied on the boat by pet wild-cats, most notably the jaguar Proxima in the 1910s. The boat docked at Frank's home in the jungle and the nearby city of Porto Velho, Brazil along the Amazon river. At some point, Frank modified the boat to have a new steam-engine with money borrowed by businessman Nilo Nemolato of Nilo's River Adventure.
Following the April 8th of 1911, Frank became a skipper for the Jungle Navigation Company. In this position, Frank used the La Quila to lead riverboat tours where he used crude fake animals and hired actors to impersonate the local Puka Michuna tribe, attacking boats. Due to Frank's shoddy business-practices, Frank's business was much less successful than that of Nilo Nemolato. In 1916, Nilo and his pet cockatoo Rosita demanded payment from Frank with interest for the loans made to upgrade the La Quila.
When Frank learned of Nilo's would-be-customers Lily and MacGregor Houghton who were seeking the mystical Tears of the Moon tree which could resolve his curse, he manipulated them into hiring him instead of Nilo. Aboard the La Quila, Frank started a romance with Lily while also evading the rival expedition of Prince Joachim, a prince in the German Empire who had revived and enlisted Frank's old conquistador compatriots lead by the mad Lope de Aguirre. After Frank joined forces with the Puka Michuna to kidnap the Houghtons, they were likeness captured by Joachim to find the Tree of Life.
Amidst a confrontation in the temple containing the Tears of the Moon, Frank crashed the La Quila into the side of the temple resulting in the outside vines turning the conquistadors to stone. With his curse lifted, Frank left the now mostly destroyed La Quila in the pension of Nilo while leaving for London with the Houghton siblings.
