History[]
Real-world history[]
Krakatoa erupted on the August 27th of 1883. Pyroclastic flows from the volcano caused red skies to engulf skies around the world and the blast of Krakatoa was so loud that its sonic force travelled around the world four times. It is estimated that over 120,000 people were killed by the eruption with corpses washing up on shores for roughly the entirety of the following year.
Jungle Cruise appearances[]
Trader Sam's[]
The drink, "Krakatoa Punch" is named for the Krakatoa volcanic eruption. When ordered, a volcano outside of Sam's window erupts. Given the Polynesian settings of the bars, it is unlikely that this volcano is intended to be Krakatoa though cast-members will refer to the volcano as Krakatoa. In Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar it is possible that Krakatoa could be seen given the supernatural nature of Adventureland however the Polynesian Village of Trader Sam's Grog Grotto has not been identified as part of Adventureland. If the volcano depicted in the window is in-fact Krakatoa, then it would also be depicted in the, "Tropical Snowstorm" drink-effect during the Holiday season where it erupts paranormal blizzards that engulf the bar.
Trivia[]
- The, "Tropical Snowstorm" affiliated with Christmas at Trader Sam's parallels the backstory of Disney's Blizzard Beachwhere a rare tropical blizzard struck Florida in the 1990s.
- Blizzard Beach is loosely connected to the Jungle Cruise's continuity via its story connections to sister-park Disney's Typhoon Lagoon, a water-park connected to the characters of Trader Sam and Captain Mary Oceaneer.
