Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar is a dining-service in Walt Disney World's Disney Springs themed to the Indiana Jones franchise. The bar contains references and story-connections to the Jungle Cruise, Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye, and the Adventurers Club.

History[]

Backstory[]

Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar started as a hangar at 1138 Seaten Avenue in the sleepy Florida town of Disney Springs, built by aviator Jock Lindsey in 1948. Lindsey fell in-love with the town while on a mission with employer Indiana Jones in a search for Florida's elusive Fountain of Youth. In 1955, Jock turned the building into, "Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar" to serve townsfolk and adventurer friends such as those in the Adventurers Club and Society of Explorers and Adventurers.

Development history[]

Summary[]

Jungle Cruise connections[]

Adventure Trading Company[]

The Daily Gnus newspaper had a community posting from a man named, "Jacque" giving away baby snakes for adoption. It is believed that this might be an allusion to Jock albeit with a typo'd name.

Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye[]

A map of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye is in the bar's lost & found and the Eye of Mara marks the Lost Delta on Jock's world map. A limited time menu option was the “Forbidden Eye’ Brazilian-style Skins.

Jungle Cruise[]

Jock Lindsey was a member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, the same secret-society as Dr. Albert Falls, Dr. Kon Chunosuke, and Professor Garrett Reed. The bar contains several allusions to the Jungle Cruise such as Jock mentioning in his flight-log that he was inspired to make the Safari Sangria after a skipper brought him to see the Backside of Water, and the lost & found containing a shrunken-head next to a stack of umbrellas, seemingly referencing Chief Nah-mee as a potential past-patron of the bar. The Safari Sangria also might be named for the lost safari of the African veldt.

To tie in with the Jungle Cruise film, Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar served many meal-items themed to the Jungle Cruise. Three of these were beverages including the Huallaga Hibiscus Cocktail, Feeding Frenzy Cocktail (inspired by the man-eating piranhas), and Sleeping Zebra Cocktail (inspired by the lion pride's zebra kill on the African veldt). The two meal-items included the, "Everyone DUCK!" flatbread (inspired by what skippers would announce when attacked by the Umbala Tribe) and “Forbidden Eye’ Brazilian-style Skins.[1]

Skipper Canteen[]

A toolbox in the Lost & Unfound of the Skipper Canteen's mess hall has the name, "J. Lindsey" on it and a sticker saying it might contain a live snake.[2] This identifies Jock as having been a past customer of the canteen.

Other connections[]

Adventurers Club[]

There are various allusions to the Adventurers Club and Pleasure Island, with Lindsey being shown to be friends with the club.

The Rocketeer[]

Jock Lindsey has coasters from the South Seas Club, keys belonging to Howard Hughes in the lost & found, and posters for Bigelow's Air Circus which identify him as having flown alongside Cliff Secord AKA The Rocketeer.

Trivia[]
