History[]
Biography[]
Origins[]
Jock Lindsey was a relaxed and care-free aviator in the early 20th century. For much of his early career in the 1920s, Jock participated in aerial stunt-shows and air-races. Jock flew alongside legendary aviatrix Bessie Coleman before leading his own celebrated air-stunt group called the, "Air Pirates Circus". At some point, Jock is rumoured to have gone through an aviation related tragedy which lead to him retiring in Venezuela where he worked as a freelance pilot. Here, Jock had a beloved pet boa-constrictor named, "Reggie".
Adventures[]
A regular client of Jock's was world-famous archaeologist Indiana Jones. In 1934, Jock assisted Jones in his search for the, "Calendar of the Sun" in Central America and in the June of 1936, he flew Indy and Marcus Brody to Tibet in a mission to find the eldritch Tomb of the Gods. in the July of 1936, Jock flew Indy to Peru in pursuit of the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol only to be attacked by the local Hovitos tribe and rival archaeologist, René Belloq.
By 1938, Jock turned his services into a business called Jock Lindsey's "Air Tours" and resumed stunt-shows with the Air Pirates Circus. Some of his shows were in the Chaplin Airfield of Los Angeles, California where he performed in Bigelow's Air Circus alongside friend and legendary aviatrix Pancho Barnes and barnstormer Cliff Secord, secretly a superhero known as, "The Rocketeer". In the October of 1938, Jock was hired by Jones to fly over Florida in pursuit of the Fountain of Youth, a failed mission which involved Jock making Indy stop at several tourist-traps and small-towns including one called Disney Springs.
Later adventures & retirement[]
In the 1940s, Jock took to travelling the world and attending different dining establishments. In 1943, he travelled to North Africa and went on a vacation along the Nile River. During this time, he big-game hunted crocodiles and was taken to see the, "8th wonder of the world" Schweitzer Falls by an eccentric skipper. In the 1940s, Jock was hired by Jones to help him photograph the Aleutian Islands where they ran afoul of pirates, causing Jock to consider a retirement.
In 1948, Jock and Reggie settled down in Disney Springs where they built an airplane hangar at 1138 Seaten Avenue. At this establishment, Jock frequently hosted members of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, a colonial secret society which he was a member of. In the mid 1950s, Jock was hired by the US government to be part of a mysterious naval expedition which involved him bringing back a diving-bell to Disney Springs.
In 1955, the disaffected S.E.A. splinter-faction the Adventurers Club assisted Jock in turning his hangar into, "Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar", a bar which hosted Indiana Jones, their mutual contacts, members of the Adventurers Club, famous aviators such as Howard Hughes, Pancho Barnes and Charles Lindbergh, and industrialist Howard Stark.
Jungle Cruise appearances[]
Adventure Trading Company[]
The Daily Gnus newspaper had a community posting from a man named, "Jacque" giving away baby snakes for adoption. It is believed that this might be an allusion to Jock albeit with a typo'd name.
Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar[]
Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar is a bar in Disney Springs themed to being run by Jock Lindsey. The bar contains several allusions to the Jungle Cruise such as Jock mentioning in his flight-log that he was inspired to make the Safari Sangria after a skipper brought him to see the Backside of Water, a map of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye being in the lost & found, the Eye of Mara marking the Lost Delta on a world map, and the lost & found containing a shrunken-head next to a stack of umbrellas, seemingly referencing Chief Nah-mee as a potential past-patron of the bar. The Safari Sangria also might be named for the lost safari of the African veldt.
To tie in with the Jungle Cruise film, Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar served many meal-items themed to the Jungle Cruise film. Three of these were beverages including the Huallaga Hibiscus Cocktail, Feeding Frenzy Cocktail (inspired by the man-eating piranhas), and Sleeping Zebra Cocktail (inspired by the lion pride's zebra kill on the African veldt). The two meal-items included the, "Everyone DUCK!" flatbread (inspired by what skippers would announce when attacked by the Umbala Tribe) and “Forbidden Eye’ Brazilian-style Skins.[1]
Skipper Canteen[]
A toolbox in the Lost & Unfound of the Skipper Canteen's mess hall has the name, "J. Lindsey" on it and a sticker saying it might contain a live snake.[2] This identifies Jock as having been a past customer of the canteen.
Other connections[]
Jock was a member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, the same organization which included Dr. Albert Falls, Dr. Kon Chunosuke and Prof. Garrett Reed.
Adventurers Club[]
Jock was also affiliated with the Adventurers Club and has several references to the club within his bar.
Lost River Delta[]
A sea-plane modelled after the OB-CPO is along the rivers of the Delta.[3] The implication is that the plane (owned by Piranha Aviation) that brought Indiana Jones to the Delta might have been piloted by Jock.
The Rocketeer[]
Jock Lindsey has coasters from the South Seas Club, keys belonging to Howard Hughes in the lost & found, and posters for Bigelow's Air Circus which identify him as having flown alongside Cliff Secord AKA The Rocketeer.
