Jungle Cruise connections[]
Film[]
Jungle Cruise (film)[]
This movie has travel montages with the framing device of La Quila moving on an old map and leaving a red line, a staple of the Indiana Jones films. There are also loose story connections between the Indiana Jones attractions and the film.
Attractions[]
Adventure Trading Company[]
In this attraction, one Dr. Henry Jones was referenced as a member of the Adventure Trading Company though this could be referring to either Indiana Jones or his father, Prof. Henry Jones, Sr.. The main HQ for the attraction was the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost shop with the company's bulletin-board having the New York Yankees cap of Jones' sidekick Wan "Short Round" Li on it. The Eye of Mara Juju mission had guests assisting Indiana Jones' Lost Delta Archaeological Expedition at the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.
The Daily Gnus newspaper also had several allusions to the Indiana Jones series. There were advertisements for the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, and a mention of the Adventure Trading Company having previously spent time in the Lost River Delta. A community posting for snakelets from, "Jacque" is sometimes taken as a typo of Jock, referencing Indiana Jones' aviator Jock Lindsey.
Bengal Barbecue[]
To tie-in with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Bengal Barbecue served four Indiana Jones themed meal items. One was the Forbidden Turnover, modelled after the Eye of Mara.[1]
Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye[]
This attraction has an original story set in 1936, tied into that of the Jungle Cruise.
Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar[]
Jock Lindsey's flight-log mentions him having been taken to see Schweitzer Falls by a Jungle Cruise skipper. In the lost & found is a shrunken-head next to a stack of umbrellas, seemingly referencing Chief Nah-mee.
Jungle Cruise[]
The Temple of the Forbidden Eye is featured in Disneyland's Jungle Cruise. Nigel Greenwater mentions Marcus Brody speaking to the anthropological society about Indiana Jones' expedition at the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. Along the docks of the Indian boathouse is a life-preserver from the boat Vasquez de Coronado from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and a crate addressed to Club Obi Wan from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. In the Magic Kingdom's Jungle Cruise, Albert Awol indirectly references the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol. In Alberta Falls' office in the Amazon River Base is a post-card from the Lost River Delta with artwork of the Temple of the Crystal Skull.[2]
Indiana Jones Summer of Hidden Mysteries[]
This event in 2007 involved a minor Indiana Jones overlay of the Jungle Cruise. This involved several objects from the Indiana Jones films being littered about the Jungle Cruise.
Jungle River Cruise: Curse of the Emerald Trinity[]
In this overlay, the Daily Colonial Journal referenced Indiana Jones being an enemy of the evil Prof. Garrett Reed of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. Jones himself is interviewed on Reed in 1931 by the newspaper.
Skipper Canteen[]
A toolbox belonging to Jock Lindsey is in the Skipper Canteen's lost & found. There is also a barrel containing, "The Backside of Water" addressed to one Prof. D. Marley at Marshall College, the school which Indiana Jones teaches at. In the library, there is a book titled, "The Eyes of Mara" written by Indiana Jones. Other books in the canteen include Seeking Knowledge by Mara and Temple Tours by Paco, referencing the theme-park originating Indiana Jones characters of Mara and Paco.
Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar[]
There are various references to Indiana Jones characters in this bar. There are letters sent to Trader Sam coming from Indiana Jones, Marcus Brody, Sallah Mohammed Faisel el-Kahir, Short Round and Indiana Jones' mother Anna Marie Jones. There is also a fedora and bullwhip in the bar left to Sam as a gift by Indiana, tags from Sallah's business of Sallah Tours, a sack labelled for usage of the Ark of the Covenant, a seltzer bottle from Marion Ravenwood's bar The Raven, and Mola Ramm's kryta doll of Indiana Jones from Temple of Doom, left there by Jones and Short Round. The letter reads, "Sam, Mine always seems to get me out of trouble, so I picked up an extra for you. Incase someone asks for a special drink you need to 'whip' up, Running a bar can be tricky. See if you can find Marion if you need any tips! See you the next time, Indiana". Theme-park references include a photo of Sam in-front of the Temple of the Crystal Skull, a map of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, and newspaper on Indiana Jones' excavation of the temple.
