Howard Carter (1874-1939) is a historic English archaeologist and Egyptologist. He is most famous for his excavation of the corpse of pharaoh Tutankhamen in the November of 1922.

Carter's likeness was used to depict fictional villain Professor Garrett Reed, an evil archaeologist who caused a scandal when he grave-robbed a mummy in 1929. In the Daily Colonial Journal, two photographs of Reed were used to depict Reed with one being unedited while the other had another man's face edited over that of Carter.

Indiana Jones[]
Carter appeared in the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles which showed a nine-year-old Indiana Jones as part of Carter's team to find the tomb of Kha in 1908. The two encountered again in the January of 1919 where Jones and his friend from WWI, Remy Baudouin, assisted Carter in deciphering a clue leading to King Tut's tomb before leaving to find the legendary Peacock's Eye diamond.
