Hightower Industries is a fictional business first-appearing in the Jungle Cruise but originating from Tokyo DisneySea's Tower of Terror.
Description[]
Hightower Industries is an industrial company presumably run by the wealthy American Hightower family.
History[]
Background[]
Hightower Industries was a business active in the 1930s. The company was presumably run by the Hightower family, a wealthy American clan from the 19th century. The Hightower family is well known for having a very dark history with members having included the pillager Harrison Hightower III and serial-killer Constance Hatchaway. It is unknown which members of Hightower Industries founded the company.
Development history[]
The surname Hightower in the Disney Parks comes from Tokyo DisneySea's Tower of Terror which revolved around New York City businessman and colonial thief Harrison Hightower III. In 2006, the family was expanded upon with the Haunted Mansion where it was revealed one of the mansion's past-owners was an aristocrat named George Hightower. In 2017, Harrison Hightower III was retconned into being a member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, a guild which would also include Jungle Cruise character Dr. Albert Falls. In 2021, a crate for Hightower Industries was integrated in the Jungle Cruise's queue.
Jungle Cruise appearances[]
Jungle Cruise[]
There is a crate from Hightower Industries in the Jungle Navigation Company's boathouse at Disneyland.[1] There is a similar crate of supplies in the Amazon River Base of the Magic Kingdom.[2]
Other connections[]
Skipper Canteen[]
One object in the menu of the Skipper Canteen is, "Shiriki Noodle Soup" with a menu description saying it was served at the Hotel Hightower the night Harrison III went missing.[3] In the library of the Skipper Canteen are three books by Harrison Hightower III titled MINE!, Treasures of the Animal Kingdom, and Everest Expedition: Search for the Yeti. There are also books titled Tales of the Supernatural by Gracey and Ghosts of New Orleans by Scholtz, referencing the Haunted Mansion of New Orleans which was owned by George Hightower. There is also a certificate for Dr. Falls' "Hightower Spirit of Adventure Award" by fellow S.E.A. member Captain Mary Oceaneer.
Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar[]
In the Enchanted Tiki Bar was a 1912 letter to Trader Sam from the New York City Preservation Society. The letter mentioned how Sam's alleged grandfather Billamongawonga AKA Trader Bill was the right-hand man of Harrison Hightower III.[4][5] In a display case is a tiki mug modelled after the Hatbox Ghost, a figure who had some relation to Hightower family-member Constance Hatchaway. At both Trader Sam's bars, the Zombie Head mugs are modelled after the, "Leering head" mould used for Haunted Mansion ghosts such as the Hatbox Ghost.
Tropical Hideaway[]
On a wall at this restaurant is an oar commemorating Harrison Hightower III's 1872 expedition on the Yangtze River.
Trivia[]
