History[]

Biography[]

Background[]

Dr. Henry Walton Jones was a Scottish archaeologist and professor of medieval literature in the late 19th century. He married a woman named Anna Marie Jones with whom he had a son named Henry Jones, Junior in 1899. Dr. Henry Senior himself was obsessed with finding the Holy Grail of Arthurian myth and was the world's foremost expert on the grail.

In 1912, Anna died of scarlet fever leaving Henry Senior as a single parent. Henry Sr. and his son had a strained relationship with junior even renaming himself, "Indiana Jones" after the family's pet dog. Indiana eventually left for World War I, leaving his father to his own devices.

The Last Crusade[]

The Jones boys reunited in 1938 when Henry was kidnapped by the nazis and American billionaire Walther Donnovan in an attempt to locate the Grail. Henry sent his grail diary to Indiana for safekeeping only for Indy to use it to track his father down instead. The two sought after the Holy Grail and fixed their relationship along the way with the grail being destroyed in the temple along with Donnovan and the nazis.

Indiana Jones and Henry went on many more adventures together over the years. This was until Henry died in the year 1951.

Jungle Cruise appearances[]

Adventure Trading Company[]

One, "Henry Jones" was listed as a member of the titular Adventure Trading Company during the attraction's setting in 1936.[1] While in the meta context it is most likely that this was meant to reference Indiana Jones, the specific naming of Henry and lack of, ", Jr." has lead fans to interpret this as potentially referencing Dr. Henry, Senior.

Henry Senior was referenced in the overlay of Indiana Jones Summer of Hidden Mysteries. Here, his umbrella appeared near the Lost Safari along the African veldt of the Nile river as one of the 3-4 artifacts lost by Indiana on one of his expeditions in Adventureland.
