God with a Rod also known as Zeus Goes Fishing is the name of a statue from the Adventurers Club.
Description[]
"God with a Rod" was a bronze statue depicting the Hellenistic king of the Olympian gods, "Zeus". The statue shared a likeness (or was possibly pseudodymous with) the historic Artemision Bronze. The statue's nickname came from a wooden fishing-rod, placed in the god's hand. The statue was most notably located in the headquarters of the Adventurers Club in Pleasure Island, Florida during the 1930s.
History[]
Background[]
Vy 1937, this statue was part of the collection of the Adventurers Club, a guild of globetrotters founded by colonial business-tycoon Merriweather Adam Pleasure. At some point following the New Year's Eve of 1937, Zeus' fishing-rod was removed and sent by club president Pamelia Perkins to contact, "Trader Sam" in his Polynesian bar. The statue's later history is unknown and it is unclear if it was present during the hurricane which destroyed Pleasure Island or not.
Jungle Cruise appearances[]
Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar[]
Zeus' fishing-rod appears in Trader Sam's collection. The rod is identified as having been given to Sam by Pamelia Perkins.[1] A miniature of the statue appears in a crate left in Sam's posession by the club, complete with a small fishing-rod.

Trivia[]
- In real-life, the Artemisian Bronze is sometimes attributed to being a statue of Poseidon, the Hellenic God of the Sea.
- The name, "God with a Rod" might double as a sexual innuendo given the figure of Zeus' infamous libido throughout Greek Mythology.
