The creature was adapted by Disney for their adaptation of the film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) and is an unused feature for Disneyland's Jungle Cruise.[1]

Jungle Cruise appearances[]

Jungle Cruise[]

An unused concept for the attraction would have had the Giant Squid from the film appear in Disneyland's Jungle Cruise. It appeared along the Jungle Cruise's rivers in Herb Ryman's 1953 illustration of Disneyland. This was ultimately decided against due to how difficult the squid was to maneuver and how the wires pulling its legs would not be obscured during the day. Harper Goff stated on the subject, "the wires that pulled the tentacles would have been hard to hide”.

Skipper Canteen[]

There is an illustration of the squid attacking the Nautilus on a map of the Mediterranean by Captain Mary Oceaneer.

Trader Sam's Grog Grotto[]

One of the squid's arms appears as taxidermy mounted on the wall in Trader Sam's bar. When the drink The Nautilus is ordered, the squid arm comes to life and assists, "Skippers" in pouring the drink. Nearby the taxidermy is a photograph of Walt Disney, holding the squid's arm.
