Doc Terminus or Doctor Terminus is the main-antagonist of the 1977 film, Pete's Dragon.

History[]

Biography[]

"Doc Terminus" was a travelling snake-oil salesman around the late-19th/early-20th century. His, "Miracle cures" were not only charlatanism but also sometimes caused active harm to its users such as a hair-remedy giving one man permanently pink hair and a weight-loss pill causing a woman to exponentially gain weight. At some point, he returned to the coastal town of Passamaquoddy where his past hoaxes made him despised by the townspeople. Terminus was however able to use charm and lying to manipulate the townsfolk into letting him stay.

While in Passamaquoddy, Terminus learned of a dragon called, "Elliot" who protected a young boy named Pete. Upon learning of the many real elixirs which he could make and sell from dragon parts, he plotted to capture the dragon to kill. When Pete's presence prevented Terminus from taking the dragon, he joined forces with Pete's evil guardians the Gogan family who wished to kill the dragon so that they could keep Pete as an indentured-servant. Terminus also manipulated local fishermen into assisting him capture Elliot though the plan failed and left Terminus suspended in ropes.

Jungle Cruise appearances[]

Jungle Cruise[]

In the Jungle Navigation Company's Amazon River Base is a bottle of, "Instant Relief Remedy for All Laments" by Terminus. The bottle advertises itself from being, "From across the Seven Seas".[1] As their are many different snake-oils and other elixirs in the cabinet, it is possible that many of them were sold to the Jungle Navigation Company by Doc Terminus such as, "Miracle Medicine", "Young Pills", "Tummy Tonic", Big Top Courage Elixir and, "Prof. Plump's Miracle Tonic for Everlasting Life". The medicine also appears in the cabinet at the lookout of Disneyland's boathouse.
