Sallah Mohammed Faisel el-Kahir Sallah was an excavator from Cairo who was close friends and frequent collaborators with Indiana Jones. Sallah contacted Sam during their excavation of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye for Sam to bring tourists to the temple as a means to satisfy the demands of British Colonial Affairs. Sam seemed to also have some affiliation with Sallah's business, "Sallah Tours" which operated in the Lost Delta of India and Amazon rainforest. Wan "Short Round" Li Short Round was a Chinese boy who acted as assistant to Indiana Jones in the 1930s.
