Jungle Cruise appearances[]

Jingle Cruise[]

Dickens' work will sometimes be referenced by skippers during the Jingle Cruise. Upon returning to the docks, skippers might say, "Here, I'll perform a good old-fashioned Christmas carol for you. Ready? Ahem. Marley was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner. Scrooge signed it. And Scrooge’s name was good upon ’Change, for anything he chose to put his hand to. Old Marley was- (beat) Wow. You guys had Great Expectations, huh?". Another Dickens joke includes exclaiming that the ambushing Umbala are, "The Ghosts of Christmas Past! Watch out for their spears; they hurt like the Dickens!". While in the jungle, the skippers might also say the sound of bugs are belonging to, "Humbugs" crying out, "Bah" as an allusion to A Christmas Carol.

Skipper Canteen[]

Various books by Dickens appear in the library of the Skipper Canteen. There is also a book titled, "Reasonable Expectations" by one, "Charles Skippens", a play on Dickens' Great Expectations while making portmanteau of his name and the word skipper.[1]

Other appearances[]

Haunted Mansion[]

There is a bust of Charles Dickens in the possession of Phineas the Hitchhiking Ghost in the mausoleum of the Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion. This might implicate Dickens as being one of the ghost story writers who retired to the Haunted Mansion as a spirit.
