The Adventureland Treehouse is a walkthrough attraction in Disneyland's Adventureland.
History[]
Backstory[]
Built in a Disneyodendron semperflorens grandis tree within the Wilds of Adventureland dubbed, "The Family Tree", is a treehouse in which a family moved to follow their dreams and aspirations of Adventure. The tree is located overtop of magical waters which the family harnesses via a waterwheel to power their lifestyle. The family consists of a "Renaissance Man" father with love of craftsmanship, invention, art and cooking, a mother who plays various instruments, a daughter interested in studying astronomy, and a pair of twin brothers interested in studying nature. The attraction seems to take place around late 1938.
Development history[]
The Swiss Family Treehouse opened in Disneyland in 1962, based on the 1960 Disney film The Swiss Family Robinson and the novel of-which it was based. In 1999, Disneyland's Swiss Family Treehouse was replaced with Tarzan's Treehouse, themed to the film Tarzan. In the November of 2019, the wooden planks on the treehouse's bridge snapped while a guest was on it. The treehouse was subsequently shut down for repairs and later announced to be re-themed to the, "Adventureland Treehouse", inspired by the original Swiss Family Treehouse though not tied to any specific property.
Summary[]
Jungle Cruise connections[]
The family's daughter has interests in becoming a member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers and her study has several allusions to the organization.
Jungle Cruise[]
On daughter's desk is a letter from S.E.A. member Aya Kouame-Beauciel who sent her a lens for her telescope. The letter mentions Jungle Cruise character Dr. Kon Chunosuke being given a telescope lens for the treehouse family's daughter by Aya Kouame-Beauciel, to be held for a time in the Jungle Navigation Company's headquarters by JNC president Alberta Falls until the daughter can pick it up. This letter indirectly references the missing VIP Jungle Cruise tour in the story of the updated post-2021 Jungle Cruise.
Trivia[]
- It is possible that the treehouse's magical waters are connected to the Rivers of Adventure.
